The Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB) was established by a Ministerial decree in 1979 and registered under the central bank of Bahrain in 2010. BAB brings together banking institution of all sizes and charters in kingdom of Bahrain and works towards enhancing Bahrain image as the financial hub of the Middle East.

Mission

The Bahrain Association of Banks represents and advocates the interests of all the various licensed financial institutions in Bahrain and works closely with the Central Bank of Bahrain and other government authorities at the highest levels on issues of banking policy and regulation, as well as actively promoting Bahrain as an international financial center.
The Association provides an open forum where banks can come together to collectively discuss and solve their shared problems. BAB is also actively engaged in promoting banking conferences, exhibitions and seminars that bring overseas banking delegations to Bahrain and create business opportunities for all members.
Objectives

The Association aims to protect and advocate the interests of the industry by working towards the Kingdom of Bahrain being:
- An investment friendly jurisdiction that promotes competition, diversification, and innovation
- A cost-effective environment to deliver customer focused financial services
- A strong and stable industry with a respected regulatory regime
- A magnet for talent, reinforcing financial services as an employer of choice
The Association delivers its key aims through:
- Lobbying the Government and Regulators as the Voice of the industry
- Conducting research that supports innovation and growth
- Promoting awareness of the importance of financial services to Bahrain’s economy
In addition, fifteen permanent committees consisting of representatives from member banks were established to give deeper and more comprehensive institutional dimension for the activities and functions of the association. This also allows for greater participation from all members of the association to enable the association of perform its functions.
